Since it happens with both Win XP and Vista, the issue is hardware related. The no HD activity indicates a possible conflict between two components. You can troubleshoot that by removing one component at a time and restarting the PC.
I doubt that the hard drive is bad, because if it was, the problem would be worst with time. |
