Yes sounds like your pressing the power button on the start menu that puts it to sleep.
You can change that though hunny so that the power button turns off the PC instead by doing this:
Goto your control panel then power options, then click change power plan under which ever plan youve got it on. then click change advanced power settings and youll see a window popup then scroll down onto power buttons and lid and change the button settings to whatever you prefer.
