Hello everyone, my name is Mitch and I live in SW Mississippi (approx. 65 miles east of Natchez). I am 45 and I am a partsman for a local GM dealership. I also kind of help the SysAdmin at work since I am the only other person who knows anything about the inner workings of a computer there (and no I don't get paid extra but he has given me some programs and hardware for helping him out).
I have been fooling with computers since '86 when I signed up for a NRI correspondence course in PC repair. I had to build a Sanyo MBC-550 which had a 3.87 MHz 8088 and 192Kb RAM (I later upped it to 256Kb, man I thought I was smoking then, lol). I since then had a couple of Tandys, a Compaq (never again) and a couple of Dells. I have ran Windows 3.1 on up except for NT series and 2000. I have also dabbled with Linux on and off over the past few years with too many distros to list here.
I was also a beta tester for Whistler (XP) back in '01. I still have the beta disks under my desk, lol. I was surprised that MS did a public beta test for Vista as this was a first for them.
I really appreciate this forum as the people here are nice and helpful. On other forums I have had my fill of Vista bashers. Some of these people are so paranoid I bet they line their rooms with aluminum foil to deflect sensor beams coming down from spy satellites, lol.
Again thanks for letting me be a part of this community
