Well, I was wrong, the issue has not been fixed. After I installed the update it worked fine for a few days, but then I received the same update notification. I installed the update and a few minutes later I received another update notification for the same file. After the third time of receiving and installing the update, everything looked fine. The following day I received another update notification for the same update, but results were the same. This time after the fourth time of installing the update, the update notifications finally stop. However, on the following day I again received the update notification. This time I tried the installation three times, stopped and contacted Microsoft Support.
According to a tech, the issue might be a third party software. He also said that since the update was successfully installed the first time, it doesn’t need to be installed again.
The first thing we did was hide the update, which is very simple to do: Start > All Programs > Windows Update > Click ‘View available updates’(assuming there are available updates) > Right-click the update and select ‘Hide update’.
The next thing we did was to collect a listing of Windows Update; Start > Type WindowsUpdate.log in Search Box and press Enter > Save the file to the Desktop or any other folder. (You can find some interesting facts about your PC through this log)
The second file we collected was the System Information; Start > Type MSINFO32 in the search box and press Enter (This file contains every piece of information you may need about hardware/software and OS)
I sent this files, along with a few snips I collected about other issues, to the MS tech for analysis and possible solution. The tech works the grave shift and it might not be until early morning before I get the results. I’ll post here as soon as I get any information.  |
