A great exmple of what I mean is the new standard of games using shader 3.0 technology, which i only supported by geforce 7 series (and equivalent ATI series ) and up. Basically, if you don't have this you literally wont be able to play games which are currently being released. Integrated chips do not support this. Also, as you are getting Vista, surely you would want to use dx10?
You will get about 30% upwards better performance on a desktop to a laptop.
But if you are a laptop guy, then I say wait another 6 weeks before looking at the market for christmas.
