Hello | | Hi,
I joined this forum because I got ripped off on a Vista upgrade from Home Basic to Home Premium. I tried to help a friend and "assumed" certain things.
Just because the computer comes with an upgrade disk does not make it upgradable. This "emachines" W3609 computer had factory installed Home Basic and Microsoft Upgrade Advisor said that the machine could handle the upgrade (I had increased the RAM from 512 MB to 2 GB). emachines will not refund my money and will not provide any technical support. They blame it on Microsoft. As one might expect Microsoft says it is not their problem because they did not manufacture the machine.
That's what I get for trying to help a friend. Anyone who has had a similar experience has my sympathy.
Now I am going to watch "Pirates of Silicone Valley" and cry in my beer.
Caveat emtor!
