Vista Ultimate Installation Freeze

New to forum.

Have run into a real irritating problem for which I can not find a solution.

Trying to install Vista Ultimate OS on new system. OS software is full version. Tried both Ultimate OEM version and Ultimate retail version with the same results. Reached the point of frustration after trying different hardware and 38 different attempts to install.

Successfully installed on different unit so I know software is ok. Problem is installation on my main new unit. When it reaches the "expanding files" segment of the install, the unit freezes at some point and it is not the same point every time. Some less than previous attempt and some more. Tried different combos of hd (ide and sata), cd/dvd units (ide and sata) and thus have narrowed it down to MB, processor, memory, video card or possibly the bios settings.

PC details:
PS Real Power Pro RS-850-EMBA
MB ASUS P5E3 Deluxe
Processor Intel Quad Q6600 SLCR @ 2.4 Ghz
Memory 4G DDR3
Graphics Card EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB PCI-E
HD Western Digital WDC WD1200JB-75C 120GB
CD/DVD IDE Samsung TSST CD/DVDW SH-S182M
/ SATA Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-212D
Monitor Samsung 22" 2ms 3000:1 Flat Screen
Chip Set North Bridge Configuration

No clue at this point as to what to try next.
