My new laptop came with an Office Home & Student 2007 trial. Since I'd already purchased the software I activated it with the product key. Since I use PowerPoint to develop sewing classes for on-line use, I purchased the Office 2007 Standard upgrade. Loaded it into the laptop ...
First problem was that it replaced my Windows Mail with Windows Outlook as the default (I don't want to use Outlook unless someone can tell me that I really should). So I switched back to Windows Mail. Is there a connection to Outlook that needs to be addressed? Or is it o.k. to use Windows Mail? And do I need to change any settings?
Second problem was that my documents still came up reading "non-commercial use only". I had assumed that the upgrade to Standard would automatically override the student version ... guess not.
I uninstalled the home/student version and that solved the "non-commercial use" message, but then I started having issues with IE7 (posted a question about this in "Bugs" area). Thinking that this installation did something to the overall system, I uninstalled it.
Because I was having so many problems I had the system run a recovery with automatic data backup from its hidden files. Except for the IE7 problems I'm having, it's a wonderful system. However, I am afraid to re-install the Office Standard upgrade. Any suggestions?
Aside from these issues, by the way, I really like Word 2007 and Powerpoint 2007. They are easy to use and I'm creating some great stuff with them! |
