When I did run Norton i did see updates that were other than definitions but never had to put the key in for any reason. I have search all over the net for this issue and have yet to see anything like this except your problem. I myself would be a little leary about the update my self the software you have it is a all in one suite with firewall and anti-virus and spyware all rolled up into one if I am correct.
