VISTA finally gave up the ghost & wouldn't boot at all. I backed up what I thought was only my data, but the Gateway backup program backed up a bazillion windows files as well. After re-installing VISTA I moved all my own data back to the appropriate directory. Now I have tons of windows folders that I can't delete.

No, the files are NOT write protected. That's the 1st. thing I checked.
One more thing. I tried Sure Delete & Delete Files Permanently, but have much luck. Sure delete was only able to delete/wipe 2 of the files. Also can't delete the directorys with the protected files in them.
