I personally was a beta tester for MS from day one and I have vista running on three systems and I love it but older systems it can be a problem if the hardware is not up to having the correct drivers check the system out and if its HP your getting they are suppose to have good support. What's to be afraid of its an operating system not the boogie man and any thing that breaks or is messed up can always be fixed back up you data on a slave drive but that is just common sense these days.
