I've tried to search for something on this so apologies if anyone else has come across it.

Every time i've booted up since Monday this week, the desktop doesn't seem to load properly, even though all the icons and shortcuts are there. If i click an icon or shortcut for anything, i just get the properties window. The only way around it was to open the program (firefox/ mail etc) from the start menu.

Now, i've managed to get the 'show desktop' shortcut working and that seems to have fixed it until the next time you load up and it's teh same again.

Anyone any ideas? The only thing i remember installing before this was (i think) a windows defender update that appeared via windows update automatic notifications.

(I've run an AVG virus scan/ ad & spybot scans and a one live scan)
