Apparently it has been confirmed that DirectX 10 will ONLY be available in Vista. No XP or anything else, so if people are going to move forward with the gaming world they will have to migrate to Vista.
It also sounds like there will be DirectX 10 capable games out as early as the 1st quarter of 2007, which I think is sooner than most people expected. Some of this is due to Vista delays, which has allowed game developers more time.
Some rumors have it DX10 titles being available at the time of Vista's release.
