If you find the offending program or simply suspect that a particular program is the offending program and decide to proceed as though it is the culprit, then uninstall it and reinstall it/try it in XP SP2 compatibility mode by:
1. right-clicking on its installer and selecting Run this program as administrator and subsequently
2. right-clicking the program's shortcut or EXE and applying the Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode using the Compatibility tab.
