You should try System Restore.
1. Reboot and press F8 to launch Vista in safe mode. Enter C:WindowsSystem32 strui.exe in the command prompt.
or
2. Boot from Vista's DVD, then click next following the “Windows is loading files” process, but do not install Vista. In the lower left corner of the screen click on “Repair your computer.” Select the Vista operating system you want to restore, click next and then choose “System Restore.”
