| Microsoft Sells Big, With Mac Users. Wednesday, October 10, 2007, Here's a big number: 20 percent of Microsoft Office's U.S retail sales are the Mac version, according to NPD. Here's another: Mac users account for 10 percent of retail Windows Vista Business and Ultimate sales. The 20 percent number is impressive for a three-and-a-half year-old product whose successor is scheduled for a January release. The question is, should Microsoft keep supporting a long time competitor? "Obviously, it's got to concern Microsoft to a degree," said Chris Swenson (NPD's director of software industry analysis) said. "But more it's got to concern Office competitors." Rather than looking at alternatives, the product of choiceeven on the Macis Office. On the other side you have Apple making two of their main Applications;Safari and iTunes, compatible for Windows XP and Vista for no charge. In the long run the ones who end up winning are the users. http://www.microsoft-watch.com/conte...mac_sales.html
