The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has continued its clampdown on software piracy by agreeing a settlement with a Glasgow-based marketing services firm after discrepancies were found in its software licensing. Equator Scotland will pay the BSA £18,000 after an audit of its software assets found inconsistencies with its Adobe, Microsoft and Symantec applications. The company has also implemented a centralised management plan to keep track of software being used in the future. Sarah Coombes, director legal affairs EMEA at the BSA, said: “Using unlicensed software breaches intellectual property legislation – whether that breach was intentional or not. "We strongly advise all businesses to conduct regular audits of the software installed on company PCs and to have enforced employee policies in place that make clear accepted practices with regards to downloading and software usage.” John McLeish, managing director of Equator Scotland, said: “We were concerned to discover that there were discrepancies to some of the software we had installed. "We have co-operated fully with the BSA and have taken significant steps to improve our software management processes.” The audit was part of the BSA's existing campaign in Glasgow which is believed to have the highest software piracy in Britain outside of London. The campaign will move to Manchester in the New Year as the BSA attempts to stamp out software piracy across Britain. http://www.channelweb.co.uk/crn/news...s-glasgow-firm

They sell lots of what from the back of cars? We have that in America also, out where is Down town on the city square, or church parking lot. What is Fresh corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, Turnips, Honey, about any thing you make on the Farm or Ranch.... If your talking about Pirate Software and Games, then why did you not turn them in... and accept to REWARD... many times up to or more than 10%. Gads one guy here in USA did that in Wichita Ks, and his reward was over $10,000.00 ....the guy in California netted over $50,000.00

| I am in the USA and he is in Scotland. Yes, he says they sell Software, Games and Movies. They way he describes it it is like what we would see in a market. Nobody does anything and they just set up shop. I myself have never seen this where I live. DuPage County IL. I sure it goes on I just have never seen it. It appears to be just business and normal out in Glasgow for this type of thing. I do not condone or use illegal software. Do I know of people who do, do I know of people who get Movies.. Yea.. Do I turn them in.. NO. |

| I think its time for a Brit to step in here Also it feels a lot more rewarding to buy genuine software and lets face it its a lot safer. There is one thing i don't agree on however, how i cant only use some software on more than one machine. I should be able to use it on all the machines in my house. If i am totally honest i have brought Vista Ultimate genuine but i am not prepared to pay out again and again to get all my devices on vista.

| You can install on more than one machine... They simply do not want more than one machine per KEY on line at any time. Vista 32b Ultimate and 64b use the same KEY.. only your not to have both 32b and 64b online at the same time... I'm sure that this is correct... since I know of several that use both versions on same or different systems.. ONLY NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME...

| I think the price for additional license of Vista is just too high. I have Vista Business edition installed on my desktop. To get additional licenses of the same product, I must shed USD 269.99. I think that is bull.

I simply do not uninstall - it says you may uninstall.-- it does not state you have to uninstall (I'm being rather detailed on this so that the MORON PIRATES can understand) ... but I do so as to not share this license between devices. Which I am stating I do not use both Devices at the same time... One device or the other... If x86 is one 1 HDD and x64 is on a Different HDD and I simply swap the HDDs for the Boot HDD. or I swap the cable on the Router for the Laptop with choice of OS... easy to keep updated and you can take to local Hotspot and use any of the 4 devices .. 1 @ a time... ================================================== ======== This quote portion is copied from a Legit Copy of Vista ...
