Critical Vista Security Update

Description: Security issues have been identified that could allow an attacker to remotely compromise your Windows-based system using Windows Mail. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft.

Update type: Important

Release date: June 12, 2007

Applies to: All versions

Knowledge base: support.microsoft.com/kb/929123

Download link: 32-bit | 64-bit

Comments: The update refers to Outlook Express, though it is Windows Mail that gets patched in Vista. Though not specifically for the core of Vista, all Vista releases include Windows Mail, so it is relevant. The update resolves two privately reported and two publicly disclosed vulnerabilities. Maximum rating is 'Critical', but is only listed as 'Important' on my machine.

EVERYBODY SHOULD MAKE SURE THEY GET THIS UPDATE....

These updates really extended the boot time on my computer. Almost a minute from loading to displaying the login window.

DRAT - DRAT - DOUBLE DRAT - I really am tired of paying the price for the actions of the thieves!!!

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

I do have a little issue on this side; most times when the updates are installed, all my restore points are deleted...except for the one that is created during the update.

No change in time, boot or shutdown, but sure as heck stopped the crappy EMail service. I had been getting from 3 to 5 repeats of all email back as far at 8 to 10 days... that equalled about 200 EMails a day... on good days and over 500 on bad days...

I also have checked by restore files. and have more than one...
actually I have 7 on hand...
Could it be a difference in Version.

I have Ultimate - Retail

Home Premium OEM here.

Jemw you actually have a much better PC than I do. What i your boot time atm? (I won't be able to get back to my PC til Monday so maybe other people could post theirs to see if they are comparable.

Also, check your log to see if windows has highlighted any programs which are making it boot slowly.
