Unhappy FireFox problems - What another one...

Help Find Memory Leaks in Firefox - Be a Beta Tester...
Today, September 22, 2007, 11 hours ago
If youre a Firefox enthusiast, the Mozilla community is currently looking for additional volunteers to help reduce memory usage and fix any memory leaks in the browser. If youre not a programmer, Firefox programmer Jesse Ruderman says you can still help:
œIf youre a Firefox user, an easy way to help is to browse with a trunk nightly build wrapped in a script that calls leak-gauge.pl when Firefox exits. If it reports that documents or windows leaked, try to figure out how to reproduce the leak and then file a bug report.
The goal of the project is to reduce the memory usage in Firefox 3. On his blog, Ruderman details a number of leaks that have already been identified and fixed.

For more info on Firefox 3, check out the projects wiki page at Mozilla.

I read something to the effect that Firefox was having a memory hogging type of problem. The suggestion in the article I was reading was to restart Firefox from time to time to clear it up. (wish I could remember where I saw it).
What is a "trunk nightly build wrapped in a script "? (I understand script). I am very intererested, and as always curious, and most definately not a programmer...yet.

I think the securtiy gaps (or alleged gaps) between IE7 and FF are closing nowadays in IE7 favour. Meaning no point in FF even being around!

I use Firefox because I find it faster and browsing seems quieter using it with Addblock Plus.
As far a security though, I have to agree with you, the gap seems to be closing.

If indeed a gap ever existed which I think not peronsally, can't comment on add block or faster browsing but the browser can't affect speed that much can it?

I'm pretty sure it can, but maybe an expert help on this one because, although it seems faster, I don't know enough about the technology behind it to properly answer. Good question!

Talking Snuffy enough is enough

FF has always had a Nightly update if you allowed it, and you say you do not like BETA Ware...

I feel there is always room for compatition. and that means more than 2 browsers, personally I do not like FireFox. (just me) I did like the "Gozilla"
1. IE
2. Opera
3. FF (Mozilla)
4. Netscape
5. Flock
6. Safari
7. Maxthon = Maxthon (formerly known as MyIE2, pronounced [ˈmækstən]) is a China-based freeware (more specifically donateware) web browser for Windows. From its early MyIE2 roots, Maxthon has developed a growing user base, especially in China, and in 2006 it has received commercial backing for Maxthon 2.0. It uses the Trident layout engine, just like Internet Explorer, but it can use the Gecko engine used in Mozilla Firefox as well.

Maxthon seeks to provide many rich features and a highly customizable interface, without losing any of the compatibility of Internet Explorer.

8. AOL (For use with their proprietary intranet)
9. Wyzo (A media browser that integrates BitTorrent)
10. HotJava (discontinued)
11. Yahoo! Browser (or partnership browsers eg. "AT&T Yahoo! Browser"; "Verizon Yahoo! Browser"; "BT Yahoo! Browser" etc.) my sister uses this one. yuk yuk yuk gag sick

This is just a few of the MANY... when IE fails to work... due to MS updates. I use Maxthon.

Mozilla Firefox is a graphical web browser developed by the Mozilla Corporation, and a large community of external contributors. Firefox, officially abbreviated as Fx or fx[3] and popularly abbreviated FF,[4] started as a fork of the Navigator browser component of the Mozilla Application Suite. Firefox has replaced the Mozilla Suite as the flagship product of the Mozilla project, under the direction of the Mozilla Foundation.

Mozilla Firefox is a cross-platform browser, providing support for various versions of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. However, the source code has been unofficially ported to other operating systems, including FreeBSD,[5] OS/2, Solaris, RISC OS,[6] SkyOS, BeOS and more recently, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.[7]

Firefox's source code is available under the terms of the Mozilla tri-license (MPL/GPL/LGPL) as free and open source software.[8] The current stable release of Firefox is version 2.0.0.7, released on September 18, 2007.[9]

According to Market Share by Net Applications, 14.56% of the world's Web browsers used Firefox in August 2007, with 14.05% using version 1.5 or higher.[10][11]
