Safely Remove Hardware fix for Windows Vista
Today, September 05, 2007, 8 hours ago | Steven Parker
When you click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the notification area on a Windows Vista based computer, and then you click Safely remove Device_name, the device may not be removed as expected. Additionally, you do not receive a message that verifies whether the device was safely removed.

Note This problem occurs only when you left-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the notification area and then click Safely remove Device_name.

This problem occurs because of a timing issue in which allocated memory may be released while the system is removing the selected device. When this behavior occurs, the system can no longer find the information about the selected device. Therefore, the device is not removed.

File information
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

Windows Vista, x86-based versions
File name File version File size Date Time Platform
Stobject.dll 6.0.6000.20550 586,240 06-Mar-2007 02:56 x86

Windows Vista, 64-bit versions
File name File version File size Date Time Platform
Stobject.dll 6.0.6000.20550 756,736 06-Mar-2007 04:01 x64
but another WTFUD is MS doing. ask me by EMail.. what a piece of CRAP...another SHAFT to paying customers..Oh, I also tell MS my opinion on these things...via EMail. PS: If your EMail does not say USA... forget it.. you can not have... WTFUD is MS thinking...

I have both - If you want either send me EMail asking... I will return said hotfix to you.
x86 = 333kb
x64 = 525kb very small so any email should handle it..

Would right-clicking work? Also, when I close Firefox I like to go offline, and when I right -click the little monitor icon, it takes a few seconds to show that it is disconnected. When I open Firefox, unless I manually connect first,(2 dialog boxes), the program loads before the connect dialog box comes up, and I get a server not found error. I guess the same principle is at work here. It seems to explain it. Am I right?
