How to hack Windows Update to download Vista SP1 Beta

If Vista is as bad as the NEWS people claim it is, they why are the PIRATES at work getting it spread all over the world..as fast as they can.

1. Open a text editor like Notepad, and paste the following text into it: details removed
Save this file as a ‘.cmd’ or ‘.bat’ file, any name is fine, I chose sp1beta.cmd. Make sure there isn’t a ‘.txt’ extension at the end or it won’t work (changing the save as file type to ‘all files’ will help with this). You can save it to any location you like, I simply saved mine to the desktop.

2. Once you have the file, right-click on it and choose ‘Run as Administrator’ (if you have UAC disabled, you can simply double-click). A command prompt window will open, and should show you the following:details removed

If you see the same, the settings have been added to your registry. You’re ready for the next step.
3. Go to Windows Update. A quick way to do that is to click on the Start menu, type update in the Search Box, and hit the Enter key. Click ‘Check for Updates’, and after a minute you should get a new update, KB935509. Install the update, and allow the computer to restart when it is finished.details removed

4. Once logged back in, go to Windows Update again and you should have update KB937287 waiting (if not, click ‘Check for Updates’). Install it.details removed

5. Once KB937287 is done installing, click ‘Check for Updates’ and KB938371 should become available. Install it and allow the computer to restart when it is finished.details removed

6. Once logged back in, once again go back to Windows Update and ‘Check for Updates’. I had to wait about five minutes before mine would find the next update, which is Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta!details removed

Even though I already have a copy of SP1 I decided to try this hack out and it actually worked!
No doubt Microsoft will make a workaround to this very soon.

For those that do try... the number of reboots have been from 4 to 10 depends on how many updates you already have.

Wiggles. If you had SP1 installed why did it show that you need to install it... or is that a pic from when you did install SP1.. (is this version newer than the one you currently had/have?)

I decided to remove SP1 (which I now have reinstalled due to performance), I still had the copy of
the installer but I just put the picture on there to show I could get it another way.

Did you save the original user32.dll.msi which removes the 6001 evaluation copy 6001.jpg.

me neither but then if you save the sp1 version, you can transfer it to any other system, and "for the rest of the story".
