Talking Microsoft dumps "unpopular" IE7+

Microsoft dumps "unpopular" IE7+
5th August 2006 Dan Warne Internet, Windows

Microsoft announced this morning Australian time that it has dropped the unpopular "Internet Explorer 7+" name for the version of IE7 that will come in Windows Vista.

"The feedback we got ... was overwhelming - many of you didn’t like it," wrote Tony Chor, Group Program Manager for Internet Explorer 7.

Microsoft now says the two different versions of IE7 will be called:

For Windows XP: “Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP”
For Windows Vista: “Windows Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista”
"We’re glad we checked with you all before we shipped so we didn’t go out with an unpopular name," he said.
