AOL isn't even owned by AOL over here it was sold to carphone warehouse. Seen as it looks like AOL is going down the pan in the USA maybe the should rename it UKOL

'Well stated Ant. Yes, it is unfair to try and compare same name services in different countrys since they have different laws to conform too...
Sample: Satellite service called "Wild Blue". in the USA and Canada + .
WB was also sold by Co-ops in the USA and by WildBlue, all three services were the same only different. 1. Different prices, 2. Different support 3. Different allocations per amounts of UPL and DLLs speeds per cost.

AOL - USA can not be compared to AOL - UK - I'm sure...
PS: AOL - USA if you stick there disk in your computer YOUR SCREWED BIG TIME. if you have Autosetup active.

i dont think we have it that bad here, but i do admit the software does suck. As for the service A* at my end

What the hell NO Snuffy Ant for most users I know in the UK its the same as the US apart form the CD thing. But everthing else yer!!! I still don't get the speed I should I have a 1 meg line a 2 meg AOL account and I only get 512mb IF IM LUCKY I think I can say I will learn to teleport before your gonna get an upgrade to 16meg from 8 Ant.

The main factors are as follows:

the quality of your telephone line
the distance between your line and your exchange
The area you live in (cites tend to have slower speeds)

Now because our government sucks BT have the rights to all the lines in the UK so AOL (carphone warehouse) cant do anything about this and your speed will be the same no matter what provider you go with. I get full clean 8meg were i live so you cant go blaming in on AOL's servers

I have been with lots of providers such as BT, Pipex, Tiscalli and AOL comes out top! and i am getting 16meg in January because the exchange in my area is getting upgraded by BT so AOl is kindly updating my service just like last year when the exchange got upgrade to handle 8meg

Erm accually I can I have had a BT person out and they said I should be getting the max my line can support (which im not) he said my line was perfect!!!

and BT also told me they could save me money on my Phone calls Problem = Fixng = Materials = SPENDING MONEY! If i were to come to your house and cut your line in half they would say its working fine lol
