Office 2003 Service Pack 3 does not really allow Office 2003 to exchange files with Office 2007. In order to do that, you must download and install the Office Compatibility Pack. Why wasn't the compatibility pack not included with Office 2003 SP3 is beyond my comprehension.

By the way, if you are using Office 2007 and exchange documents with any other MS Office suite, you can save the file as Office 97-2003 compatibility. You can even set Office 2007 to use Office 97-2003 as default when saving files.

Like I previously mentioned, the ony time you would need the compatibility pack would be to open files saved with the new open source format, which is the default Office 2007 document format. Office 2003 SP3 does not include making Office 2003 compatible with Office 2007.

Wow am I out of it! I never knew there were service packs 1 or 2 for Office 2003. Am I right in that SPs 1 and 2 would have to be installed before SP3?

Thanks Josh. One more thing, if you go to that website, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page to get installation instructions and options. It also includes links for downloads of other service packs and updates. You can even download SP3 and hopefully be able to slipstreaming it to Office 2003.
