I went to that page the other day and saw the $139.00 price for Win XP Professional, but I wonder if it qualifies for the upgrade. The reason been is that it's an OEM version.

I found this at http://www.buycheapsoftware.com/deta...uctID~3266.asp.

Windows XP Pro OEM SP2B with VISTA Upgrade Coupon, $147.00.

So I guess the OEM version qualifies for upgrade.

Thumbs up Proof of Purchase required

As I understand the price on upgrading.. is dependant on the date of purchase.
Rumors: Microsoft wants to make sure you have a legit copy of XP.
Quote:
Enclose as your proofs of purchase:

The ORIGINAL product box top with the product name and barcode clearly identified from the product, and a copy of your sales receipt that clearly shows the date and store name where you acquired your product. Products must be purchased between October 26, 2006 and February 28, 2007. Mail must be postmarked by March 31, 2007.

That's one reason I'm not sure about Win XP OEM. It does not come in a box, so what are you supposed to send to MS as proof of purchase?

I read that Vista would cost a lot more in UK than in the US. I verified the prices and the seems to be about the same. Am I right?

Windows Vista Ultimate $349/$199 **** £369.99/£189.99
Windows Vista Business $269/179 **** £289.99/£189.99
Windows Vista Home Premium $239/$139 **** £219.99/£149.99
Windows Vista Home Basic $199/$99 **** £179.99/£99.99
