Question Paul Thurrott: Windows XP Service Pack 3 Not Coming

Paul Thurrott: Windows XP Service Pack 3 Not Coming

section: windows, for your questions: 7.4.2007

And while I'm ranting a bit, let's dredge up Windows XP Service Pack 3, which was delayed from 2005 to 2006 to 2007 and now to 2008.

If you were looking for any glimpse into the mind of Microsoft, this is it: The company has completely abandoned Windows XP, and it has absolutely no plans to ever ship an XP SP3.

It really is funny, just as soon as Paul T. opens his mouth and says NO WAY. it is leaked, and it is verified its REAL ... wonder what he says about Vista SP1.

Oh yes, he said in 2009.. sorry I forgot.. dum dum de dum

Of course there is going to be a third service pack for XP!
Microsoft did denied SP1 for Vista right up til people were beta testing it.

They are just doing the same thing...again.

Well that shows that SP3 is alive!
Screw you Microsoft, trying to cover it up..

What I don't seem to understand is why can't they just be open about SP1 and SP3?
Why keep it under wraps for as long as possible?

I don't understand it either; from the business standpoint it doesn't make sense. Business are holding out on Vista until SP1 becomes official and not wanting to talk about it creates more uncertainties. I do think that if MS releases Win XP SP3 before releasing Vista SP1, it will cause some businesses to postpone buying Vista.

I totally agree, I've been reading articles saying that Businesses are still saying no to Vista..some may switch when SP1 is released.

If SP3 is released before SP1, then Microsoft in my view are idiots.

I wouldn't think so. I think SP3 is just a bunch of security features designed to protect MS reputation. Although MS wants to push Vista, it can't afford for hackers to hack XP and make MS look bad. At the same time, they know that many businesses are satisfied with Win XP and will not go for Vista as long as they know their system is secured.

But then again, I could be wrong; MS might decide to include some Vista features in XP to calm down customers who feel MS is letting them down.

Have you ever wondered why, if you tell (someone) your kids NO, they want it more. The more you say NO the more they want it...general public is what makes businesses work
(samples)
sort of 1 million ppl have Vista, and that means Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, and all car makers have to make there programs Vista ready... can you imagine what ifs Pal Pay was not Vista ready, or EBay.
