Wink Incremental or standalone upgrade

The best way to download SP1 is from MS.
A Pirate version will probably not do much for your machine. REASON:
once you get the proper KB's for your specific machine... and
ea KB then has 3 stages to upgrade.. then a REBOOT... to that is several REBOOTS, and ea one is specific for your machine... then due to this, it then looks for the (proper size of SP1. depends on all facets of your system.. the time & proper downloads for my laptop was different than for my desktop...
1. I do not not have Office 2007 on the Laptop
2. the Video Card is different also.
So to get as you state,
Quote:
I have not got any version of the sp1 yet where can I download it
follow the instructions carefully and exactly to the letter. When you print out the instructions. Make sure you print all the instructions.
[Execute that bat file as an administrator by right-clicking it and selecting Run As Administrator. Start Windows Update afterwards and go through the process three times in total downloading (KB935509) - v1.005, (KB937287) -Build 6001.17036 (x86) and (KB938371) v1.018 in each consecutive try.
Users who already have an older version of the Service Pack 1 installed have to uninstall it before they can download the new one. Just use the normal way to uninstall a software.]
The bold was left out of my 1st set of instructions. therefore I could not properly upgrade. Also what the instructions fail to state, if for some reason any KB of the 1st three that does not FORCE a REBOOT will cause your upgrade to fail.

This upgrade is not a STANDALONE version like v.16633 or like v.16549.

Version 16659 and 17036 are incremental upgrades

Wink Microsoft Releasing Several Vista Patches This Week

Microsoft Releasing Several Vista Patches This Week
By Ed Oswald, BetaNews
November 12, 2007, 10:53 AM
Microsoft isn't waiting for Vista Service Pack 1 to push some important operating system updates to users. (so many ppl have Sp1-v1xxxx, they figure they might as well give some to the normal users.)

Several updates will make their way to users this week through Windows Update, Windows Vista team member Nick White wrote to the official Vista blog on Monday. If users decide to pass on the updates, they will be included in SP1.

"We [use Windows Update] so that customers need not wait for a service pack or another or larger release to benefit from the ongoing improvements we make to Windows," White wrote. "Continuous improvement is the name of this game."

The first update addresses several reliability and stability issues. Battery life will be improved, as well as making wireless connections more stable. The recovery time after coming out of sleep has also been shortened.

Another fix repairs an issue with the USB core components in Vista that was causing between 1 and 2 percent of all crashes reported, while the final one fixes issues with using a Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender.

White said the updates were expected to go live on Windows Update on Tuesday.

AS STATED EARLIER, if you have a LEGIT Version of Vista ... then damn it Validate and get the upgrades/updates... if your a PIRATE then what can I say... apparently you have failed to READ many of the V.B. posts.

More signs of a new Vista SP1 build waiting in the wings

Speaking of service packs, that new beta build of Windows Vista Service Pack (SP) 1 that almost went live a week ago still has yet to surface. But it may be waiting in the wings, as a few resourceful Vista tinkerers discovered this past weekend.

“Seems with a little tweak, the old registry file that Microsoft provided to testers (that got leaked) can be used to download a new build of Vista SP1, 6001.17036,” reported an “All About Microsoft” reader. There’s “no way to really tell at the moment if its the RC (Release Candidate) build, but I guess things are pretty imminent now.”

On the “My Digital Life” site, there’s more information:

“Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta build 6001.16659.070916-1443 v.275 has been upgraded to new version, and in the same time also patched and closed the hole of use registry tweak that allows previous release of Vista SP1 beta to be downloaded from Windows Update. However, the registry hack to download Vista SP1 beta still work with minor change to registry key to download the latest version of the service pack. However, it’s not certain if the new release is the Service Pack 1 Release Candidate (RC) Preview that accidentally leaked to MSDN earlier this month, and the name in Windows Update still says it’s Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta.”

Microsoft has declined to provide any more details of its timetable for Vista SP1, beyond stating that the company is hoping to deliver the final SP1 code in the first calendar quarter of 2008.

Microsoft officials declined to say when the company plans to make a test build of Vista SP1 avaiable for download by more testers via the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN). Currently, about 12,000 testers are dabbling with Vista SP1 test builds.

Update: Vista users who don’t want to wait until SP1 might be interested in the three newest Vista updates http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/wi...this-week.aspx
that Microsoft will be rolling out via Windows Update this week. There’s yet another general reliability and performance update; a Windows Media Center update; and a USB core update all coming down the pike this week.

Microsoft officials said they will release to testers RC0 “within the next 24 hours.” Microsoft also is releasing simultaneously the Internet Information Services 7.0 (IIS7) Media Pack Community Technology Preview. This CTP will feature Windows Media Services 2008, which Microsoft says will provide two times scalabilty over Windows Media Services 9.0. The new media pack also can be installed as part of Windows Server Core.

Windows Server 2008 RC0 also incorporates the first test build of Microsoft’s “Viridian” hypervisor in the form of a Community Technology Preview.

Post Vista Ulltimate Retail with Office 2007 Enterprise

v.17042 for which version of Vista... might make a difference...

http://www.vistababble.com/forums/at...g?d=1194727671

Do you have all the files mentioned.. in your update files..?
Start Windows Update afterwards and go through the process three times in total downloading (KB935509) - v1.005, (KB937287) -Build 6001.17036 (x86) and (KB938371) v1.018 in each consecutive try. Then I had SP1 Beta @ 57.2MB.
some typos in other posts... forgive me but the true version is Build 6001.17036 .sp1.17036.jpg
what is your SP number? SP1 v.652 with winver?
