| I think I see the difference... my original KB938371 (installed 10-16-07) was upgraded to KB938771 (v1.018) (installed 11-10-07). I'm Vista Ultimate Retail. Thanks for the info. PS: Notice the difference. That I have also had to install SP1 Beta 17063 twice.SP1-updates.jpg

| Not saying your were trying to update a Pirate Version but many people who do not have Official MS DVD, MSDN verified RTM, TechNet RTM, Official Download Version or Verified OEM codes of Vista are having MAJOR PROBLEMs, getting the install to work...Versions that have been "FIXED" with NLITE, or Blue Vista, or Black Vista or Fast Vista are currently having major problems... The release of SP1 Beta or SP1 RC1 also states that if your not proficient with Fixing Problems DO NOT ATTEMPT to install. If your refereing to the Registry Patch 1. You should reboot after every New KB. failure to do so can corrupt your DL 2. The average time between the 2 or 3 KB until you find SP1 can be as much as 5 min. 3. If you can not Validate your version prior to. recommend you not even try. the time it takes is also MS doing a Validation of your system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- @echo off reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSp1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d 37d55f36-65d6-4fe4-9dc7-892fcbe6222b /f reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSP1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d 37d55f36-65d6-4fe4-9dc7-892fcbe6222b /f echo Vista SP1 registry key has been set. Please check for updates in Windows Update. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- should be ran from start cmd (right click run as admin), SP1RC1_ext.bat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Instruction for Save it as a .BAT file, Execute that bat file as an administrator by right-clicking it and selecting Run As Administrator. Start Windows Update afterwards and go through the process three times in total downloading (KB935509) - v1.005, (KB937287) -Build 6001.17036 (x86) and (KB938371) v1.018 in each consecutive try. Users who already have an older version of the Service Pack 1 installed have to uninstall it before they can download the new one. Just use the normal way to uninstall a software ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you attempt to use this an for some REASON it screws your system, you have been warned... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Method was still working 100% as of 10:30AM CST USA.
