Post Vista is killing Pirates

Microsoft: Windows Genuine Advantage works!
Posted by Steven Parker 3 hours ago ·
IT may have cost Microsoft millions of sales, but Redmond claims that Windows Genuine Advantage has forced punters to buy legitimate copies of its software. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Vole had tried everything from court cases, to threats, to try and counter piracy. But now that Windows Genuine Advantage has locked down its Vista product, piracy is more or less a thing of the past.

The SMH admits that Microsoft does not have any actual figures to back up its startling claim. The closest thing it has said was that Windows sales were up 20 percent while worldwide PC sales were up only 14 to 16 percent. It claims that this was because people with counterfeit copies of Windows were having to put the real thing on their computers or the software does not work

Should we have a poll on this or not.

I would have to say sometimes the MS Windows Genuine Advantage can be a pain in the butt I have a legit copy of XP and 3 version of Vista and the XP was said to be not Genuine by MS, and I bought it from a very big retail store now I just installed Vista Premium for the first time and I had to call and get the 45 digit number from rep to make it Genuine, so there are glitches in the system ,and I for the live of me, have no idea how they can try and keep track of all the activated systems. I usually have not problem calling CS and answering the question why did you reinstall, or is this the only system this version is running on and did you buy the software yourself or did it come installed and the mistake some people make is saying it came installed even it did, just fib a little will get you far with the Customer Service people.

Wink Pre-installed = OEM not MS support

that makes it OEM and the SN will tell a good tech the difference. but I do understand, and I FEEL EXTREMELY lucky, I have not had to call Tech Support (C.S.) for a very long time.
