Exclamation Vista SP1

23rd January 2007 David Flynn Vista, Windows
Reckon you won't upgrade to Vista until the first service pack is released? That's looking likely to be the second half of this year, according to Microsoft's latest email blast.

The company has put out a call for "customers and partners (to) actively test and provide feedback on Windows Vista SP1 to help us prepare for its release in the second half of CY07 (calendar year 2007)."

Microsoft hasn't released details of exactly what changes will be wrought in Vista SP1, which has been assigned the codename 'Fiji' but some OS components which missed the RTM cut-off will almost certainly be rolled into the update.

One of the candidates for this better-late-than-never brigade would be the Windows PowerShell, previously Microsoft Shell -- a .NET-based command line shell with its own scripting language.

However, the Redmond clarion call declares that "regressions from Windows Vista and Windows XP, security, deployment blockers and other high impact issues as are the primary focus for the Service Pack."

So, yes, the still not-yet-released Vista has "high impact issues, -link to read more-

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

Thanks for the information Snuffy. I found this at http://www.vistasp1.net/ and the article is title "Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Hotfix Preview". It has a list of issues and hofixes for Vista, but I doubt that MS will wait for SP1 to come out to address these issues. If anything, one should be able to have these issues fix through Windows Update.

Thumbs down http://www.vistasp1.net/ = disappointment to me

http://www.vistasp1.net/ has been a disappointment to me.. it was not what I was hoping for...at this time it only has FIXES for things that you need that fix for...(I'm hoping I can get into the SP1 Beta test). currently I have NO problems with Vista. (problems with other programs - yes but not Vista.) Like MS updating everybody to IE7 and causing SEVER problems with login to the internet...I have had to help several go back to IE6, and show them how to refuse the IE7 upgrade...(grrrrrr) I do this for FREE..and the main problem is OEM preloaded from (I refuse to comment on Pre-loaded) hacked crap/OS. from Manufactures.
Toshiba is still offering XP Media Center and NO "Express Upgrade"... (Ripp off) thru Walmart...Acer includes the Certificate for "Express Upgrade"
