| Customers who purchase a retail copy of Windows Vista and then upgrade to another version of Windows Vista using Windows Anytime Upgrade... Now, those customers will be able to uninstall their upgraded copy of Windows Vista and re-install it on another device. If I understand correctly, if I upgrade my PC from Home Premium to Ultimate, for example, I can then uninstall Ultimate from my PC and reinstall it on another PC...that will be fine. However, can I do a clean install (as opposed to an upgrade) on my other PC even though the product key is for an upgrade? |

| Ah, the old unanswered question. My quess is that what you are thinking might be like what happens if one upgrades from XP--XP is dead, and long live the king--Vista. But, I think that if one calls MS, then he or she is likely to receive permission to do what is desired. I am getting the feeling that MS is very tolerant when someone calls trying to accomplish something where the "correct" outcome is in doubt.

| Well, not really and I think I just found the answer to my question. It wouldn't pertain to XP, because it does say Anytime Upgrade and Anytime Upgrade means upgrading from a version of Vista to a higher Version. I have yet to do an Anytime Upgrade, but before you get your upgrade key, you must tell MS the key to the version you are upgrading from; so that will invalidate your key. In other words, the upgrade key one receives becomes just like a retail version of Vista. |

| My understanding on this if you use the only (1) KEY, on (1) system at a time... then it is approved. Also was told Quote:
2 MS issued Home Premium "KEY'S" 1 Ultimate Upgrade "KEY" Vista Signature Version x86 & x64 (I can use the KEY for either x86 or x64 but not both at the same time-dual booting is illegal if the same key is used for both versions)and the manual says. clean boot with NO key to install on a NO OS HD... then insert the DVD again and when ask use the upgrade KEY.. it then activates as upgrade and does not invalidate any other OS KEY. 1 "OEM KEY" from a New Store Version not Bios set. (Dell,HP, Acer, etc) 1 "Retail Ultimate Key" .. Gave to me FREE but legally I have all parts. the DVD, License, Key and Sales Receiptand the Case/cover.. I can use any of the versions on different computers as long a Only One Key is used at any time on only 1 computer...I have so many keys and only so many computers...I can not use them all at the same time... but it sure is fun to play with them...
