first time with vista

Hi. I am sandy38, I'm from massachusetts. Vista was forced on me a couple of weeks ago and I normally do not like changes so I found myself resisting the move to vista. It has been 2 weeks now and I still have mixed feelings about it. I like it, but I don't like the fact that some of my older programs do not work well with it. I am using the home premium version. But I am committed now and have no choice but to learn to accept it. I came here thinking that I can learn a lot about it just by reading everyone's posts. So far I have learned quite a bit. Thanks for having such a great site!

Hey Sandy, welcome to Vista Babble!

I completely understand your views on Vista, I was just the same when I first got it.
Now I love it, sure there is odd annoyance of a program not working or a bug of some sort but over time it will be a thing of the past.

Glad to hear you've learnt quite a bit from our posts.
Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy here and if you have any questions or problems with Vista please let us know.
That is what we are here for!

Let us know how we can be of service. If one of your older program is not compatible, let us know; there are a few tricks that may help you to run those programs.

How is Massachusetts, getting ready for the cold winter?

Its too bad it was forced on you. Anything that's not a choice can be hard to swallow. Once you get used to it I hope you'll like it. Some things are easier than with XP, like uploading photos,( but other things take getting used to.) Hope the transition is not to hard. I like it, but it was my own choice to get it and that makes a huge difference.

I second what Vistanoob said, "Anything that's not a choice can be hard to swallow." However, change can be good and for the most part necessary. If it wasn't because of change, we would still be working through DOS; no GUI and no fun...very technical though.

Oh my, that would be like driving a 55 chevy with a 3 speed stick shift, on the column? (that is what my brother said).
Might be fun for someone, but not for me. All of a sudden vista looks good. lol.

Or typing a report on an old typewriter; by the way I haven't seen one for years.

If you haven't seen a typewriter, perhaps you've never seen whiteout; not heavy fog, but correction fluid designed to cover up typos.
