| Ok, so now we are getting some where! Have you got all the updates installed? There was an issue that using the 'automatic' setting for installing windows updates didn't show any updates when there were ones there to install. So go to Windows Update and change the settings to 'manually install updates' then click the search button and install anything that appears. Also, I suggest you don't use Microsoft Update as it has been having issues. Once you are up to date, you want to keep the manual setting on. Reboot and see what happens. (If its still bad we need to disable some services) crabby |

| Ok well thanks for the info guys, but problem still persists, i set udate to manual and checked but there was no new updates, so have now left that manual..i rebooted and still the same i disabled bullguard but thats not the problem as i kne it started from fresh install of vista, those svchosts are still coming up all over the place. Im ready to see what else to disable when it clams down it just runs fine no readings off the scale. ![]() Shot at 2007-07-09 |

| Lol, well the most comprehensive way to remove the problem is this (it's quite a long process): First get the PID of the problem process. As you can see from your screenshot above, this can be obtained from the Reliability and Performance monitor (it may change number on reboot so don’t use 1020 above but check again) Once you have this PID number, go Start -> All Programs -> Accessories . Right click command prompt and run as administrator. In the pane that comes up type TASKLIST /SVC/FO LIST which will list all PIDs and the services using them. Find the svchost PID with the issue, all the services that are using it will be listed... one or more of these are your issues! Once you have this list you can disable any of the services by going to the start menu and searching for services.msc. This will bring up a list of all services. You can then find each one on the list and disable it by right clicking it and going to properties and changing its start up type. If you could post a list of services attached to that PID from the command prompt we should be able to tell you which you can disable but for the moment, disable away! crabby |

| Since Bullguard looks like it is doing lots of EXTRA STUFF,,, and it also:The latest version of BullGuard by BullGuard LTD offers a hefty feature set, reliable protection, decent support and includes one of the top-ranked anti-virus programs, BitDefnder. But, its inability to protect against several threats we tested it against kept it from climbing any higher than our #7 spot. Then I recommend you 1. make sure Vista's Firewall is OFF/DISABLED 2. Vistas Bit Defender is OFF/Disabled 3. Make sure that the AV in Bullguard is SET TO NOT DO A COMPLETE VIRIS SCAN on START UP... Most AV that are set to do a FULL complete SCAN are very time consuming and very memory hungry... and many are DEFAULT to Complete-full scan. Might I ask WHICH VERSION OF BULLGUARD are you using... it does make a lot of difference. PSSS: If you disabled Bullguard why does it show all the activity on startup... 39% CPU usage? Some times you have to UNINSTALL to stop the program. This is DUE to the SPYWARE which the programs installs so as to check on what activity it is doing....
