Question New Here, New to Vista and New to computer!!!

I just got a new computer--Pavillion Elite 9047 and it has Vista! Yikes! Not the Xp I am used to. Will watch this Forum and hope I can get more up to date with the system.

Thanks for any help. I came with Windows but just a trial version and after 60 days, I will have to upgrade to 2007---I have 2003 Office Pro. Can I just put it one this one?

I want to use Outlook! This just has Windows Mail. Yikes!

Thanks for any advice. Marty

Welcome, and congrats on the new machine. Just take your time with Vista and change things slowly--until you get used to what everything does. Office 2003 is fine with Vista.

do you mean Office 2007? If yes, simply uninstall it (then reboot) then install your Office Pro 2003.

Maybe this link will also assist you in 2003 to 2007.

Maybe you should google the Pavillion Elite 9047 and see what the specs are..or simply check the web site. for make and model specs.
----------------------------------------
I recommend he uninstall this: Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Trial: 60-day trial version, Norton Internet Security 2007: Protect your PC out of the box (60 days of complimentary live updates). then he can install what he already has... and there are several AV products that are FREE and protect as good as Nortons IS 2007.
------------------------------------------------
the 1066MHz Front Side Bus is very nice, and the 3072MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM is great, the Video card is nice - NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS - with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium.
plus much more ... YES, a very nice Christmas Present...
