Poppabird is on a distinguished road
Newbie

Hello Everyone,
My name is Jim, but nicknamed Poppabird ( I do rescue work for large Parrots). I am a 57 year old guy living up here in Clearview, Washington, and a self taught computer/laptop builder and programer. I built my first computer way back when 486's were the hot rage, by buying an old Dell at Value-Village and tearing it apart piece by piece, to see how it worked. After that, it became a breeze to build a PC from assorted parts I aquired here and there.
What I'm interested in the most however (aside from enjoying laptop repair work), is beta testing a lot of the various MS products available on the "Connect" site, and getting software, to see how the works as a standalone or with other software.
I have been keeping an eye on all posts and FAQ's regarding the upcoming Vista RC1, and it's availability. I have the beta 2 release, but could never get it to go past an 87% install, without freezing up. So, I am asking, if the PIN needed to recieve the upcoming RC1 release is similar to the Key I recieved for beta 2? I never recieved a PIN...only a Key-Number of which I am told is a fairly common Key given out to all downloaders.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....Jim

Well let me be the first to welcome you Jim! and i hope you enjoy your time on vista babble, once you found your feet here you will me lots of new Friends who are interested in Microsoft betas to. The answer to your question is that you can use you product key from Beta 2 to activate RC1, you can use that key 10 times on any vista beta made after beta 2, i would recommend that you remove your serial key from your post because if people happen to find that key they may use it them self, I'm not talking about vista babble members here you can trust us I'm talking other people on the net. Then you wont be able to use it for rc1 if it gets used more than 10 times

Howdy Poppabird!!!

I found out a loooooong time ago that the beta cd-key is literally just that, a key that will work with any beta build! So you can use it with RC! if you want, you just need to get your hands on it I wouldnt post the code here though because each code is limited to 10 PCs and once that number have installed it you can't activate it (edit your post to remove it).

You should have jumped on alot earlier, we've been fixing issues for ages. You would probably have vista by now if you had

If you need a place to grab a newer build PM me.

Welcome to the site!!!

crabby

Hi Crabby,
I appreciate the reply, and have removed the CD-Key. Yes...I would be extremely interested in a later build, as I'm anxious to examine and try out Vista. So far....I've installed various Vista/Longhorn transformation packs, which I think are really great (except for the eye-candy floating/expanding desktop icons).
As for recieving a newer build/copy of Vista beta 2, I can be reached at Original_Grump@msn.com
Gain....Thanks.
