I have never used any other than GHOST, but if this ACRONIS is as good as you say. I will surely test it out....

I did a search at Microsoft on "Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore" this AM and found a number of problems with the Restore side of the tool. Everything from:
It fails with error . . .
to
Can't install programs . . .

Has anyone actually done a Complete PC Backup and then the Restore to a different disk?

The docs indicate you can do your complete backup to a DVD/DVD set. Has anyone tried that yet?

I'm considering alternatives at this point, but if the built in really works, would like to use it.

I tested the backup using DVD-RW...

slower to burn - yes
slower also equal less chance of errors on burning...

Snuffy:

Did you do a restore to the same disk, or another disk? Have you had any problems installing software?

No problems incurred... so added a FREE small spare HDD. to SCSI Card. and have used it as storage for the image... faster to restore than DVD. both work, I'm not sure but it took longer to copy the DVD image to I:\ than it did to RESTORE...

I also keep the restore points to a min... by using clean advanced and remove all but the latest recovery/restore points.

Remember when all else fails and before you restore by image...
try restore by DOS... who ever you can BOOT... then use CMD = DOS.

System Restore from command line:

rstrui.exe /offline:C:\windows
It works also ..
