Problem is finding the file that downloads. I would have thought that windows will make it a temp file (so deletes itself once installed) so people CANT freely distribute them... stupid closed source again

Download section good idea... extracting windows update files and distributing them, so illegal it will ruin/close the site. The only official microsoft downloads that may be hosted are the distributables, but they are available on the microsoft website anyway. I would suggest that if you want a download section, obviously I can think of many things to put in it, you could link to the distributables instead of hosting them (saves space and bandwidth).

I was not at all suggesting MS downloads, I just meant a place for us to post images, are own help files ect instead of just putting them in posts.

Good point, I don't see the point in hosting updates and please ppl who can't get updates I think its beyond are control as I so far (someone correct me) think its an MS server prob as I said in my very 1st breaking news post about the updates. Also MS Windows Vista is still in "BigBugs" mode lol!

Now that I think about it surely you are right. I don't think I ever had to trash one after downloading and installing.

I think having a place to post links to updates and downlaods is not a bad idea. If someone needed an update or a file, they'll know exactly where to search. There are already links about downloads throughtout the forum, they are just a little hard to find. As for Vista updates, I wouldn't say the problem is with MS server. Obviously, there's an issue, but not everyone has that problem.
