No More Windows Updates? Not Good if So

Has anyone tried Windows Update lately? Some using 5744 (felix I think from here) have not been able to update. And, I aborted my upgrade to 5744 because Vista said it could not update online during installation. I just looked for updates under 5728 and got the following screen--which is consistent with the experience of some 5744 users. Any insights anyone???

I just tried and it worked...no updates available though. I did get the message about not being able to update online during installation. I proceeded anyway. One more thing, anyone noticed that during the installation it referred to RC1 instead of RC2?

Anyway, I did an upgrade on my laptop from Win XP, and Vista did go online for updates during the installation...or at least, I did not get the previous message.

I hate that error, because it has SOOOOOO many 'solutions'. It could be random port error, wrong date, missing protocols, corrupt .dll etc... it works for me

Funny that I have this error after installing OneCare. I tried turning its firewall off, but no luck yet.

I also got the no updates on install, but after it did complete, all seems well and my alert says it's up to date. I did notice the install took a bit longer on the second shot, so maybe give that a try. I installed right over top from Vista Windows.
I had tried One Car before with XP, and to my mind it's junk, and caused a world of problems, so I junked it, and don't think it's really needed either

It seems that most people receiving the Error Message 8024400A upgraded from 5728 to 5477, or are still running 5728. But that's how I installed mine on my desktop though, and it's working fine. And last night I downloaded a 30MB update on my laptop for 5477 (laptop was an upgrade from Win XP).

What was the update? Save it!!! If important, maybe daz would let us pass it around via the server. Save all you get.

Send a message via MSN to JoshW02@hotmail.co.uk

I being the 1st person to report update probs will say that I had problems on 5600 RC1 and 5728 (Updated RC1) but not 5744 so shall we closed these probs off for they must just be MS probs. PS see the other thread.

Update: Link to other thread: http://www.vistababble.com/forums/vista-bugs-problems/582-2-vista-5728-bugs-they-new.html
