Windows Vista Build 5536 has been released to beta testers. This is the first build that truly shows what Windows Vista is capable of, and shows a great deal of improvement over previous builds. It is also “Pre-RC 1”, meaning that it is a preview of what we can expect in Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1)

This build introduces a lot of performance fixes and offers greater stability overall. The installation process is much quicker on most machines, and some people have even gotten the much desired 15-minute installation times.

As this build is a preview of Release Candidate 1, it is stable and usable on a day-to-day basis for most people. However, there are some things that you may find negatively impacts your experience with Windows Vista, and this guide outlines some of these things as well as how to remedy these issues.

How can I get a copy of the Pre-RC1? I purchased Vista Beta 2, I would think thet Microsoft would send out the RC1 to me. I have not recieved any info. Would anyone here have any info on what I have to do.

Well I am not sure about the Pre-RC1 but you may as well wait for RC1. (7th of next month I think.)

I am getting 5536 atm... but I have been kicked out of my house so don't know when I will get around to installing it If you want the upgrade just buzz me... but I would probably wait for RC1 if you REALLY believe it will come out on the 7th!

I have got a copy of pre-RC1 and I'm testing it tomorrow morning and i must say i cant wait, i hear nothing but good news about this build its a thumbs up from everyone on the net but i will have my say tomorrow i will drop some feedback as soon as i get it on my PC tomorrow after i have had a good root around the build

I grabbed 5536 and was brill then ran across 5552 and is tremedous!

You guys are in for a real treat! I didn't expect it simply because I thought they weren't ready... but this IS a RC!!!

Well Crabby your right!!!! i have just put 5536 on my PC this morning and it kicks ass. Its allot lot faster and smoother and its bug free up to yet in my experience. I relay wasn't expecting this after BETA 2 being a big flop but Microsoft have finally got there act together and its gonna be a fantastic week when RC1 hits our monitors. Anyone have any questions please ask I'm keeping this build on my PC till RC1.

Its a thumbs up from me and I'm really looking forward to RC1!
