However, stay with the Windows Vista default configuration for better productivity.”

You can change how your desktop and windows appear on your desktop.

1. Right-click an empty area of desktop
2. Select Personalization
3. Click Window Color and Appearance
4. Click "Open Classic appearance properties for more color options"
5. Go to Advance and select an Item from the down arrow menu to modified
6. Click OK and Apply to effect the change

Note that for some items you must choose Windows Classic or Standard to change the effect. Also, even though you can change many items at once, I suggest you do one at a time; it’ll make it easier to revert back if things don’t look or go the way you expected.

Adjust your PC sound to take advantage of Vista’s new sound enhancements.
Here’s how:

1. Open Control Panel
2. Switch to Classic View and open Sound
3. Right-click the speaker icon and click “Properties”
4. Go to the “Enhancement” tab and check-marked your desire option(S)
5. Click “Apply”

Here’s a simple mouse tip that I’ve been using for many years because it’s so convenient. It’s also available in XP as well.

Have your mouse pointer move automatically to the default button in a dialog box. For example, when using Windows Live Mail Desktop, if you choose to delete an email from the “Deleted items” folder, you get a dialog box confirming you action. Once the dialog box opens, the mouse courser will automatically park itself over the “Yes” option; freeing you from having to move the mouse.

Here's how:

1. Open Control Panel
2. Choose Classic View for easier access
3. Double click the Mouse icon to open it
4. Go to Pointer Options tab
5. Place a check mark next to “Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box”

Here’s another easy tip that can be used in Vista or XP. Right click an empty space of your desktop and use the pop up window as a quick access to create a new word or text document, zip folder, brief case, folder, shortcut or contact. Simply right-click, select New and pick what you want to do. Happy computing!
