What is Windows Sidebar? It is a vertical bar on one side (right side by default) of ur monitor. It holds customizable software apps (gadgets), which offer quick info and easy access to commonly used tools. U can use a gadget to search the Internet (e.g. Google gadget), delete files, use a calculator, or display a slide show of your pictures. The Sidebar can be shown or hidden on ur desktop, and gadgets can even be detached and moved around to ur desktop. To change which side to view your sidebar, right click on an empty space of the sidebar, select “Properties”, select “Right” or “Left”. To close the Sidebar, simply right click and select “Close sidebar”. To add gadgets, right click and select “Add gadgets”. To change the “opacity” of a gadget, simply right click the gadget and select “Opacity”. To detach a gadget, right click the gadget and select “Detach from sidebar”. If u have the time to create ur own gadget, go to http://microsoftgadgets.com/Sidebar/...tOverview.aspx. |

The Snipping Tool captures a screen shot (snip) of an object on the screen. U can select four settings by clicking the down arrow on the "New" menu...Free-form Snip; Rectangular Snip; Window Snip; Full-screen Snip. However, getting a Snip from a windows or menu that closes itself automatically, e.g. Start up menu, can be treaker. To get around this, simply open the window or menu and press the Print Scrn on ur keyboard. Open "Paint" by going to "Start", All prgrams, Accessories, Paint. On the Paint window press Ctrl+V on ur keyboard...this will paste the Print Scrn snapshot to Paint. Now you can use the Snipping Tool to select a specific object. |

Windows Collaboration, or how it’s known today Windows Meeting Space, is a new element of Windows Vista intended to make it simple for PC users to work together (collaborate). With Windows Meeting Space, a PC user can share documents, applications and even the desktop. “Collaboration” sessions can take place over wired or wireless networks, even without the presence of an access point. To begin Windows Meeting Space 1. Clicks Start, All Programs, Windows Meeting Space. 2. Click “Yes” to the prompt dialog. If a UAC prompt appears, enter admin account password. 3. Enter the information requested on the new prompt dialog. (Note: Two people may be using the same display name during collaborating, so make sure u are collaborating with the right person.) 4. If a session is taking place, u’ll be asked if u want to join. 5. To create a new collaborating session, click Start A New Meeting and specify a password 6. Now u can now invite others to join ur meeting, start a shared session, add a notes or handouts, etc. "More to come later, so stay tune" |

1. Windows Meeting Space is designed to allow collaboration between 10 users....each PC must be running Vista. 2. Meeting Space uses peer-to-peer technology, so there's no need for a server. 3. Data between participants is encrypted to help ensured that only authorized participants can see what u share, however, it's not completely safe. 4. When u run a program u r exposing ur PC to viruses/worms that can delete ur files, spread viruses to other people, slow down ur PC, or make PC available to other people. 5. Although, there r risks, there r although precautions u can take to minimize the risks. (I did say minimize the risks). Make sure u install an antivirus program, and make sure the virus definition is up-to-date. 6. Additionally, only run programs or open files from users or websites that you know and trust. Stay tune for the 3rd part. Last edited by felix8406 : 09-19-2006 at 07:39 AM. |

If u dual boot (multiboot) between Vista and WinXP, or another OS, u can choose which one will start when turning on ur PC. 1. Open Computer 2. Click System Properties tab, and then click Advanced System Settings. 3. Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. 4. Under System startup, in the Default operating system list, click the operating system that u want to use when turning on or restarting ur PC. 5. Check Select the Time to display list of operating systems box, and select the number of seconds u want the list of operating systems to be displayed before the default OS starts. Default is 30 seconds, but that could be an etternity for some PC users. |
