Question Intel integrated 3000 graphics

I've seen so many computer specs, that I don't remember if anyone here is running a computer with the Intel integrated 3000 graphics? Mine uses a NVIDIA GeForce 6100, which seems just adequate to run Areo. If so, how's the Intel chipset for speed, etc. Just curious. I saw a PC on sale very like mine running that chipset, larger HD, monitor and 40.00 less than my "gift", which prompted this question.

Mine has that Intel chip integrated but i use a Nvidia Ge force 7200 GS Card. I have never used the on board, in fact it could be better than the budget card i have.

I read that to run Areo well, a card or the chipset must have a throughput of 1800 MB per second. I'm still trying to find out what mine is. Eventually I plan to install a card, but I have a lot to learn about it. Wonder what the Intel chipset
throughput is??

I dont know if this is any good to you. I have not got adobe reader installed so i cant look at it for you but you could take a look at this:

http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets...ots/313343.htm

also look at this:

http://compare.intel.com/pcc/showcha...&culture=en-US

it shows what chipset uses what graphics. Its about half way down in the chart

hope that helps you!

I'm not sure about the 6100, but like Ant, I don't use my integrated chip either. I bought a cheap $65.00 US Radeon with 256MB of memory and it does the job perfectly well, including AERO. I don't play games, so I don't have the need for anything fancier. The issue with integrated chips is that they can put a high demand on RAM, which lessen the amount of memory needed for Vista to work efficiently.

Hi, Thanks for the links. I'll definately check them out. And I'm glad to hear that I won't have to shell out big bucks for a dedicated graphics card. I know little about that as far as prices, because my Sony doesn't even have AGP and to me the old PCI's limitations didn't justify me risking breaking something. On this unit I have at least 1 PCI expressX16 so I'll be able to get a current card at least. I'm not a gamer so I'll never need SLI.

My card is PCIe and got it about nine months ago for $65.00 US, so I'm sure the price is much lower now. It's not the top of the line by any means, but like I mentioned before, I does run AERO well and with 256MB of dedicated memory, it'll free up your RAM to be used by Vista. Of course, you can always add more RAM to your PC, if you have the space for it.

That's excellent to know, and I do like the idea of freeing up that extra 256MB.
That will be more than likely one of my first, hands-on hardware upgrades.
Thanks.
