Thank you for all the replies!

I've done some browsing and found a computer with 1GB and Home Premium which I can afford (a bit out of my budget but not much). It has gotten good reviews and a friend of mine owns one and says it works great. I plan to turn off the special features so I think 1gb will be fine for me. I might get a Ready Boost USB flash drive incase.
