| Hi, I've installed the MSDN RTM version of Vista on a test desktop and one of the few items I can't get working is an Epson Perfection 1650 scanner. There are no official drivers I can find for Vista, so I'm trying to install the latest Epson TWAIN (5.7f?) drivers downloaded from their site. There are no standard *.inf files, just a setup with a few CAB files. When trying to install this (even with "Run as Administrator") I get .... "Component Transfer Error" Component: ICM_2 File Group: _EW_Profiles File: <szICCPath>\ Error: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. Anyone had any luck getting an Epson Scanner running under Vista? BTW: I've tried getting Vista to automatically find driver, but with no luck. Cheers, John..... |

| I got mine working by using the Win XP driver. Once I installed the driver, I went to Device Manager and told Vista to update the driver. Chose "Browse" for the location, and went to the folder where the temp files were installed. Chose OK and Vista updated the driver and solved the issue. If you need specific instructions, let me know. Good luck.

| I am not having any luck with mine. There are new Vista drivers, but no smart panel. What are you folks using to control tne scanner? Mine pulls up Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0. But I do not know how to use that software as scanner software. Thanks, Chuck |
