| Use anti virus? Don't go on websites which have viruses? Use javascript disabling tools? You don't state what the virus is, what it does, how you get it, what protection you have etc. Most people who get viruses have left themselves prone in some way and that's probably the thing you should change. crabby |

Crabby how it happened is not the point I know how it happend I just want it gone some1 I trusted sent me it. Second it stopped my laptop booting past the BIOS screen before windows, took the laptop battery out and put it back in and it fixed it but it happend again some weeks later now im worried it could happen again. Someone suggested to me I need to do somthing to the Boot Sector? I need somthing to scan boot sector and destory it if its still their? PS I reinstalled OS it still happend. |

| Most antivirus programs will automatically rewrite the boot sector when they find the virus. If you reinstalled the os, that may not help unless you format the drive. A good AV is your best way out, otherwise you can use the commands: Bootrec /fixboot Bootrec /fixmbr from the command prompt. crabby |

| They basically writes the boot loader back into the boot sector of the disk. I do not think it will effect the partitions. I have used the command ion the past to rebuilt my boot record after a dual boot set up and it didn't effect my partition. Or wait for Crabby to post to be sure if he has more info on the issue.
