Vista (and IE7) will include some interesting and useful security features. InfoCards, which will be included in both Vista and IE7, will be a better way for consumers to verify their identity on Web sites, according to Bill Gates. According to Gates, it is risky for people to enter their login names, passwords and credit card information on Web sites, as entering that information makes them a target for phishing e-mails. InfoCards, however, would save personal information directly on each user's computer. The user decides which set of information to save on each "card", and then decides which card is best to use for each Web transaction. The information is encrypted and securely transmitted to the site. Other security features will also be integrated into Vista. For example, if a user visits a suspicious site, the URL will show up highlighted in yellow. In addition, a certificate badge on the browser will turn yellow, which the user can click on to immediately report the suspicious site to Microsoft. Also, if a user attempts to download a suspicious file to the computer, Vista will display a prompt asking if the user really wishes to do so. Vista can then quarantine suspicious, downloaded files, preventing them from infecting the user's computer with a virus.
