Dear Sir, I have a problem with my copy of vista.I am running the Rc1 Evaluation copy Build 5600 and its registered with Microsoft until June2007. I found a virus on my copy which is a Spoolsv.exe file which takes up 95% of the performace of my pc and my Pc hangs very often.I need to delete this file and i know my pc will run smoothly after that. However i am unable to delete the file as the message i get from vista is i am not the trusted installer and i cant delete the file. This is surprising since i am the administrator of the Pc.I need to have full control of the file to rectify my problem. Please help.Appreciate it |

| You did not say which directory it was in. Follow these instructions, but substitute System 32 (in two instances) for the applicable directory. To take ownership.: 1. Start/Run and type cmd 2. Type cd\ 3. Type cd windows\system32 4. As a user, Run this command, takeown /f Spoolsv.exe This has given you ownership of the file. Enter the System32 directory via Windows Explorer and right click the file. Go to the Properties/Security Tab and edit/add an entry for everyone and give them all full access. (tick all the squares). You will find you can now delete the file. |
