I have the same problem.
I was denied to edit any files that on the network ie. other computer and networks storage. Other computer with XP can do everything, but my laptop with vista.
I log on as admin.

plus being admin and logged in as you is dafault to ordinary person.the UAC then ask for permission always say YES...or I also use logoff as me and login as Admin... big difference... or I use the method I showed .(open start -- type cmd and run as admin --> type takeown /?).. It works and tested the hard way... dual boot on Vista and then try to DELETE #2 Vista... (Most people simply FORMAT the HD/partition)..
I have never shut off UAC...never found a reason too. but many ppl do..

Yes, then you must have the files/folders all set to SHARE.

I was denied to edit any files that on the network ie. other computer and networks storage.

If they are not SHARED you can not ACCESS...
Don't you love the new security features set by Vista.

I've already shared all the folders on other computers. but my vista komputer is not allowed to edit, i can delete files and add files but I can not create folder and rename folders/files

Folder Security and Share Permissions
Folder security defines what users can do within folders. To configure folder security, right-click a folder in the Computer window, and then click the Security tab. Share permissions must match the folder security for access to a share to be successful. For example, if the share permissions allow access to both Bob and Sally, but the folder security only allows Bob, then Sally will not be able to access the share. You must add the Sally account to the folder security settings.

For another example, when a user disables password protected sharing, the default share permissions for new shares include the Everyone group. If the folder security specifies access for the Users group, another computer that is not using an account on the sharing computer will not be able to access the share. Another computer that is not using an account on the sharing computer will be using the Guest account, which is not a member of the Users group. To allow this other computer to access the share, you must add the Guest account to the folder security settings.

Both domains have to be the same name, all security setting must be the same, you probably have this set.

That's strange, if you can delete and add files, then you should be able to edit them. It's been long since I used XP; when you share a folder under XP, is there an option to allow for file editing?

It appears you already have knowledge of file sharing, as you had it working before upgrading one PC to Vista. But just in case, here's a good article from MS about Win XP file sharing: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040

I was not upgrading, my vista computer was working fine to the network, but after I formated the computer(vista), when the problem came.

Then run start --> cmd (run as admin) --> SFC /scannow
this will test for any corrupte/missing system files... which apparently you have.
