| http://www.techweb.com/wire/security/192201393 Sounds to me like MS don't like telling people when vista is going a muck. Do the rest of you find this? Last edited by JoshW02@hotmail.co.uk : 08-17-2006 at 10:55 PM. |

| JoshW02, I'm not 100% sure any more, but at one time I know I had over 100different versions of what was to become "WindowsXP"... we had daily updates and some times more than 1 update per day... then back in the Win 95 days, I had over 54 versions, then "A" and "B" and some had "C" (over dial up connections) I have no idea how many different versions of Vista?? Sounds to me like you are a "WORRY WORT".. I'm 64 have cancer and hope I'm around for Vista's replacement... (I remember when there was NO Windows???). Now the Internet is here and expanding..It really is hard to keep anything a secret... Installing Vista at 2.45 g is faster than installing Windows 3.1.. |

| Snuffy, I am not going to say that I'm sorry to hear you have cancer becuase I'm sure you have heard that many times before. But we can't allow our good members to leave this forum, so you're going to have to stick around...no choice here. Since you mentioned the old days; though Vista has been fun, espcially the sharing of information as it is being developed, it has not been as fun as the DOS system. That was an experience. No GUI, pure commands.

| I say who cares if some security patches are needed. Just protect oneself, and the odds are extremely low that you'll ever be affected. I have caught two Windows viruses in all the years I have been computing--but during periods that I wasn't being particularly diligent about protection.

| I agree 100%. I have to clean viruses from my daughters PCs on more than four occasions from each PC, because they have elected either to turn the virus program off because it was requested for the installation of a program, or turn the firewall of because they couldn't download a file through peer-to-peer. My PC got infected once many moons back because I use a floppy that I borrow from a friend to use a file. But if you take all the precautions and recommendations, your PC will be safe from hackers and viruses. Not sure what to do…simply go to Start > Help and Support and type viruses and hackers in the search box. You’ll get plenty of info.
