I ended up using KasperSky - Had to purchase, but after reading the different reviews and installing/testing I thought the purchase was a great price for the product.

Also had to move to CCleaner for registry cleanup. The product I purchased and was using with both XP and Vista 32-bit couldn't fly. Tried the several fixes from the tech support group, but gave up in frustration when they ask me to bring up Vista in safe mode and load it there one time. Didn't work so asta la bye bye.

But KaperSky comes in a stupid shiny box It gives me a headache.

Hope it works great for you

Registry cleaners borked in Vista, you just need to remove 1 key from the registy and they work fine.

Crabby, Is there that much difference in the UK version of Vista Ultimate and the USA Version of Ultimate...
My copy is RETAIL not upgrade or OEM on my Desktop.
AVast AV PRO full v 4.7.1001
My ACER laptop has XP SP2 upgraded to Vista Home Premium.(Free Home version of AVast 4.7)
I run all over the internet, tesing the AV portion,(auto update on) and have HAD 99.99% ON all the latest. AV, the only one that got thru was the EMail crud. I was using, but that is my fault... Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta.. and when you BETA TEST. you ask for all sort of crud.
I dropped OneCare, very intrusive, not (IMHO) is 99% CRAP.
I use the Vista Firewall, and seem to be doing OK with it...I'm behind a old Router - 802.11b Linksys.
Wondering why everybody is getting all the VIRUS, and stuff - Is it due to the DISABLED UAC... (the majority of the hits I get on AV are when I use P2P programs - torrents. dangerous stuff.) Very seldom do I get any AV hits on NBZ's or UseNets Downloads.

Could this be the difference in 32Bit and 64Bit...?

I believe the versions are identical.

It may be that the offending registry key simply doesnt exist in the 32 bit version but I can't check
